Instructions

1. Measure the seat of your patio chair and cut a piece of foam, batting, or fabric scraps to the same size. 2. If you are using foam or batting, you can skip this step. If you are using fabric scraps, sew the scraps together to create a piece of fabric that is the same size as the seat of your chair. 3. Cut a piece of fabric for the cushion cover that is twice the size of the cushion plus 2 inches for seam allowances. 4. Fold the fabric in half, right sides together, and sew around the edges, leaving a 4-inch opening for turning. 5. Turn the cushion cover right side out and insert the cushion. 6. Sew the opening closed by hand or by machine. 7. If desired, add a zipper to the cushion cover for easy removal and cleaning.

Tips

Use a heavy-duty fabric for the cushion covers, such as canvas or outdoor fabric.
If you are using foam for the cushions, choose a foam that is firm enough to provide support but soft enough to be comfortable.
If you are using batting for the cushions, make sure to stuff the batting tightly into the cushion covers.
