How to Build a Simple Patio Chair
Building a simple patio chair is a great way to add some extra seating to your outdoor space without breaking the bank. With a few basic tools and materials, you can easily create a chair that's both comfortable and stylish.
Here are the essential aspects of building a simple patio chair:
Materials:
- Two 2x4s (8 feet long)
- Two 2x6s (6 feet long)
- Two 1x6s (6 feet long)
- A handful of 2-inch wood screws
- Wood glue
- Sandpaper
- Stain or paint (optional)
Tools:
- Circular saw
- Drill
- Countersink bit
- Clamps
Instructions:
- Cut the 2x4s into four 24-inch pieces. These will be the legs of the chair.
- Cut the 2x6s into two 30-inch pieces and two 24-inch pieces. The 30-inch pieces will be the front and back of the chair, and the 24-inch pieces will be the sides.
- Cut the 1x6s into two 24-inch pieces and two 18-inch pieces. The 24-inch pieces will be the seat of the chair, and the 18-inch pieces will be the backrest.
- Assemble the back of the chair by attaching the two 24-inch 2x6s to the two 24-inch 2x4s with wood screws. Countersink the screws so they are flush with the surface of the wood.
- Assemble the front of the chair by attaching the two 30-inch 2x6s to the two 24-inch 2x4s with wood screws. Countersink the screws so they are flush with the surface of the wood.
- Attach the sides of the chair to the front and back by attaching the two 24-inch 2x6s to the 2x4s with wood screws. Countersink the screws so they are flush with the surface
